Adult Swim announced that "Rick and Morty" will launch a spin-off series: "Rick and Morty: The Anime", a Japanese animation-style series directed by Takashi Sano ("Tower of God"), has been ordered for a full season of 10 episodes, and is described as a new story about "this great family", independent of the main storyline, but will include the themes and events of "Rick and Morty". Takashi Sano previously created two spin-off shorts of "Rick and Morty": "Rick and Morty vs. the Genocide" and "Rick and Morty: Sister Meets God".
