The story takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1950. 18-year-old Euridice and 20-year-old Gilda are inseparable biological sisters who live with their conservative parents. Although their family traditions are traditional, the sisters each have their own dreams: Euridice wants to be a professional pianist, and Gilda longs to pursue true love. After a dramatic change, the sisters are forced to separate, and their respective dreams are put on hold due to the helplessness of life. Even so, the sisters never give up the hope of finding each other.
