The story begins in Florence in the 16th century. Arti (voiced by Mikako Komatsu) is a girl born in an aristocratic family. She is cheerful and curious about the world. From a very young age, Arti has been deeply addicted to painting and determined to become a painter. However, in that era, it was simply a fantasy for a woman to become a painter. Although her mother strongly opposed Arti's decision, Arti still insisted on her dream. She found the famous painter Leo (voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi) at the time and asked to enter his art studio to study. Although Leo was not ready to accept this seemingly silly girl at first, in Arti, Leo saw his former enthusiasm. In this way, Arti officially became Leo's apprentice and began her painting journey.
