In 1956, two high school students, Theo and Kurt, saw news reports about the Hungarian October Uprising on their way to a movie in West Berlin. In order to mourn the victims of the uprising, they and their classmates decided to ignore the teacher and remain silent for one minute in class. However, this short minute completely changed the fate of their classmates. Many of them were regarded as thorns in the eyes of the East German Security Bureau and were monitored and persecuted. After the class was forcibly disbanded, they decided to regroup in West Germany, but with a new identity as fugitives.
