Writer-director Azazel Jacobs (French Exit, Those Lovers) helms this bittersweet and hilarious story of an aging patriarch and his three adult daughters who are by his side in his final days. Katie (Carrie Coon) is a controlling Brooklyn mother dealing with her rebellious teenage daughter; free-spirited Christina (Elizabeth Olsen) is a different kind of mother who is separated from her children for the first time; and Rachel (Natasha Lyonne) is a sports betting addict who never leaves her father’s apartment—much to the chagrin of her half-sisters, who have a different mother and worldview. As the sisters spend their daily time together, Jacobs continues to acutely explore family dynamics in intimate spaces, as resentment boils over and love seeps through a shattered family over three tumultuous days in the shadow of death.
