The drama is adapted from the true crime of a pair of brothers who killed their biological parents, Jose and Katie Menendez, in 1996. The prosecutor accused them of coveting the huge family wealth, but the brothers claimed that they were physically and mentally abused and sexually assaulted by their parents, and they committed the heinous crime out of fear. They are still serving life sentences without parole, and they still insist on their original testimony to this day.
