Old Professor Edward Johnston (Billy Connolly) is a historian dedicated to medieval archaeology, and excavating the 14th-century La Roque Castle has always been his lifelong wish. However, until today, Robert (David Thewlis), the president of an international technology company, is willing to invest in the project, and Jost's wish has finally come true. He immediately formed an archaeological team with his son Chris (Paul Walker) to go to France to explore the ancient battlefield of that year. However, during a very ordinary excavation, the archaeological team members found a 1357 distress note signed by Professor Johnston, and the professor's glasses were also found nearby, but it was more than 600 years ago. The puzzled team members found the investor Robert, and only then did they know that the ambitious Robert secretly invented a time machine that could travel through a wormhole to send people back to 1357. Faced with this terrible and magical tool, Chris decided to lead the members to return to the Middle Ages to save his father. However, none of them could predict what was waiting for them at the other end of the wormhole... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by American writer Michael Crichton.
