Introduction
The play is adapted from the famous novel "Big Knife" by the late Ningjin County writer Guo Chengqing. "Big Knife" is the only novel in my country that depicts the Anti-Japanese War in the northwest plain of Shandong Province. It is also the only anti-Japanese literary work published during the "Cultural Revolution" and widely circulated to this day. It embodies the idea that "the masses are the real iron wall."
