This disturbing story takes place in Tokyo in 1989. A mysterious British woman named Lucy Fry (Alicia Vikander) has just arrived in Tokyo, Japan. She is haunted by painful memories of the past and falls in love with a handsome local photographer named Seiji Matsuda (Naoki Kobayashi), who is also haunted by the past. But when another local, Lily Blige (Riley Keough), begins to become entangled in their lives and eventually disappears and is suspected to be dead, Lucy can no longer seem to maintain her usual composure. This is a suspenseful mystery drama that depicts the shaky psychology of women living in a foreign country.
