The story takes place in a dark and sparsely populated theater. The screenwriter Thomas (Mathieu Amalric) is looking for a suitable heroine for his adapted play "Venus in Fur". Thomas was disappointed with several actors who were interviewed one after another. They were completely different from the perfect goddess image in his mind. The interview ended with nothing. Just as Thomas was about to leave, a down-and-out girl who was soaked like a drowned chicken broke into the theater. The girl's name is Wanda (Emmanuelle Seigner). Coincidentally, she has the same name as the heroine in Thomas's script, but Wanda's rude manners and shallow knowledge make Thomas secretly deny her in his heart.
