Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) is a long-distance runner who loves this sport and is fortunate to participate in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. In 1939, World War II broke out. Zamperini, who was full of ambition, joined the army to serve his country and became an air force bombardier. During a mission, an accident caused the fighter plane driven by Zamperini to crash at sea. He and his comrades spent 47 days in a small life raft. However, when they were rescued, the nightmare had just begun. Zamperini became a prisoner of the enemy country Japan, and met an officer named Mutsuhiro Watanabe (Takaya Ishihara) in the concentration camp. Here, Zamperini suffered inhuman torture and torture. Although he survived, this experience left an indelible scar on his soul. The war is over, but Zamperini's nightmare is not over.
