The film tells the story of Hokusai Katsushika, an Edo-era ukiyoe painter. It will mainly revolve around Hokusai in his youth and the famous publisher Tsutaya Juzaburo (the name of the famous bookstore Tsutaya comes from his surname), Hokusai in his old age and his partner Yanagitei Tanehiko. Yagira Yuya plays Hokusai in his youth, Tanaka Min plays Hokusai in his old age, Abe Hiroshi plays the publisher Tsutaya Juzaburo, Eita plays the playwright Yanagitei Tanehiko, and Tamaki Hiroshi plays Kitagawa Utamaro, an ukiyoe painter who is good at painting beauties.
