Francesca Johnson (Meryl Streep) died, and her will required her children to scatter her ashes on the Roseman Bridge. The confused children looked through their mother's belongings and uncovered a touching love story of their mother's life. One summer day in 1965, housewife Francesca sent her husband Richard (Jim Haynie) and the children away and did housework alone. Photographer Robert Kincaid (Clint Eastwood) came here by mistake and asked her where the Roseman Bridge was. Her calm heart was disturbed, so she took him to the bridge. After the work was over that day, he gave her a bunch of wild flowers to thank her and accepted her invitation to have dinner with her. After he left in the early morning of the next day, she reluctantly returned to the Roseman Bridge and nailed a note to the bridge, inviting him to dinner again. He accepted the invitation again. The two met at the Roseman Bridge, and the flame of love burned in their hearts. He asked her to go away with him, but she couldn't give up her existing family and worldly happiness. He left sadly. More than a decade later, Richard, who loved Francesca deeply, died. Three years later, she received the news of Robert's death. He left most of his things to her and asked that his ashes be scattered at Rothman Bridge.
