In 1986, in Dallas, the United States, Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey), a homophobic Texas electrician, found himself suffering from "gay disease" - AIDS, and had only 30 days to live. The AZT (azidothymidine) he used was the only anti-AIDS drug approved by the US Food and Drug Administration at the time, but it was extremely toxic. In order to survive, Ron began to study various anti-AIDS prescriptions and alternative therapies, and even smuggled unapproved drugs from all over the world. With the help of doctor Sachs (Jennifer Garner) and transvestite homosexual Raymond (Jared Leto), Ron began to set up an underground organization called "Dallas Buyers Club" to provide more "unconventional therapies" for AIDS patients, and many sick gay men also turned to him for help. His actions were naturally obstructed and pressured by the FDA and drug dealers. Ron finally died in September 1992, 2557 days after he was told that he had only 30 days to live. During these nearly seven years, he has been unremittingly fighting the disease, the FDA and pharmaceutical companies, and enjoying a truly lived life... This film is based on a true story and tells the story of how a terminally ill patient struggles to survive and saves thousands of people facing the same situation. It was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor/Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and won 29 awards of various sizes.
