The project, produced by The Picture Company, is an adaptation of the British short Baghead, which took many film festivals by storm in 2018. Emerging genre writer Christina Pamies was tapped to adapt the short for Studio Canal. Baghead focuses on a mysterious figure who is able to call the dead back to life in short intervals. However, anyone seeking this service must pay a heavy price. The 15-minute short won more than two dozen awards on the 2018 film festival circuit. Studio Canal acquired the rights to the short last fall, a goal for The Picture Company, which has set up several horror film projects in recent years. Alibi's Jake Wagner will executive produce along with Vertigo's Roy Lee. Lorcan Reilly, who co-wrote the short with Corredor, will co-produce. Studio Canal fully financed the project, while The Picture Company partners Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman will produce through an overall deal with the studio.
