Most of the stories take place in a city called The City of Townsville in the United States. The Powerpuff Girls are the protectors of this city. It is their job to stop bank robberies, rescue firefighters, and prevent monsters from destroying the city. The Powerpuff Girls are ruthless when dealing with criminals and monsters. They almost always beat them up and then throw them into jail or hand them over to the police. The Powerpuff Girls have their own hotline, with extensions at City Hall, Little Oak Kindergarten, and Teacher Ginny's home. When a crime occurs, it is usually the mayor who calls the Powerpuff Girls.
