The little girl Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) lives with her uncle and aunt on a farm in central Kansas. One day, a tornado hits, and Dorothy fails to hide in time to find her beloved puppy. The powerful tornado sweeps the cabin where Dorothy is hiding into the air. After an unknown period of time, the cabin finally falls to the ground, and crushes an evil witch to death. Under the guidance of the kind witch of the North, Dorothy and the puppy set out for the Emerald City where the magician Oz (Frank Morgan) lives, praying that he can help them go home. On the way, Dorothy meets the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) without a brain, the Tin Man (Jack Haley) without a heart, and the cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr). In order to realize their respective wishes, they follow Dorothy. They experience numerous difficulties and dangers along the way, and the evil witch of the West obstructs them everywhere. Can their wishes finally come true? This film is adapted from the American fairy tale of the same name.
