Tolkien (Nicholas Hoult) and his brother were abandoned by their families when they were very young. The kind priest Francis (Colm Meaney) took in the two homeless brothers, and they have been immersed in the strong Catholic culture ever since. After growing up, Tolkien entered a noble school with his own efforts, where he met Robert (Patrick Gibson), Geoffrey (Anthony Boyle) and Wiseman (Ty Tennant) and other peers, and their passion for literature and art made them forge a deep friendship.
