Ronit (Rachel Weisz) is a well-known photographer. On this day, she unexpectedly received the news of her father's death, so she rushed back to her long-lost hometown, an Orthodox Jewish community in the suburbs of New York. In fact, Ronit was once expelled from the community because her relationship with her same-sex girlfriend Esti (Rachel McAdams) was exposed, which is absolutely not allowed in the Orthodox Church.
