Set in the near future, where artificial intelligence is all the rage and natural development is a distant memory, New York couple Rachel and Alvy are ready to take their relationship to the next level and start a family. Rachel's work gives them access to a new tool developed by tech giant Pegasus - giving couples the opportunity to share pregnancies on a more equal footing via detachable artificial wombs, or "egg pods." Alvy, a botanist and devout purist, is skeptical of the approach, but his love for Rachel pushes him to give it a go, and the two begin a wild journey into parenthood in this brave new world.
