After the U.S. invaded Iraq, Sergeant Williams James (Jeremy Renner) was transferred to the bomb disposal team of the Army's Desperate Company to replace his colleague who had just died in Baghdad. The other two members of the bomb disposal team, the liaison officer Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and the special forces soldier Owen (Brian Geraghty) who was responsible for cover, were quite disgusted with the impulsive Williams.
