Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is the prince of Zamunda. He and his attendant Sami (Arsenio Hall) came to the United States for a 40-day incognito visit. For Akeem, this trip has another purpose. He is very dissatisfied with the marriage arranged by his father Kai (James Earl Jones), so Akeem decided to find his true love in the United States. Fortunately, such a woman soon appeared. Her name is Sally (Shari Headley). In order to get close to Sally, Akeem entered the bakery opened by Sally's father and became a worker. Sally has a boyfriend with a very rough personality.
