In order to escape the forced labor in prison, McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) pretended to be mentally ill and was sent to a mental hospital. His arrival brought a severe impact to the lifeless mental hospital. Mike asked to watch the baseball game on TV, challenging the strict management system of the hospital, and was obstructed by the head nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher); Mike led the patients to go fishing, which lifted their spirits, but caused headaches for the hospital. In order to punish Mike for his audacity and repeated violations of the hospital rules, the hospital decided to keep him in the mental hospital forever. Mike, who was free by nature, could no longer bear the life in the mental hospital. He joined forces with his fellow patients and the tall Indian "chief" to start his own plan: flying over the lunatic asylum. The film won the 48th Academy Awards in 1975 for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. The protagonist's spirit of "no freedom, no death" still has great practical significance in today's society.
