At the end of the 19th century, the famous "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" Butch (Paul Newman) and his partner Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) robbed banks in a small town in the western United States, fighting brutally with their opponents and dealing with the police wittily.
