A Southeast Asian government cooperates with multinational companies to vigorously develop infrastructure in backward areas. American engineer Jack (Owen Wilson) was sent by the company to stay in the local area with his wife and daughter to participate in the project development. Jack thought he could start a new life comfortably in Southeast Asia with coconut trees and shadows, but the angry local residents rioted because the government used infrastructure to enrich themselves. The government police and the army were defeated and the region fell into anarchy. The public grievances quickly turned to Jack and other innocent foreign expatriates, and the bloody xenophobic massacre was out of control. Can Jack lead his family to successfully escape from danger with the help of Hammond (Pierce Brosnan), who has lived in Southeast Asia for decades?
