On October 21, 2015, Silvergate Media of the UK announced that it would jointly develop the fifth season of the world-renowned children's ocean adventure animation "Octonauts" with China Central Television. The signing ceremony was held at the British Ministry of Culture that afternoon. Li Ting, deputy editor-in-chief of China Central Television, signed a memorandum of understanding on the joint production of the fifth season of the animation "Octonauts" with William Astor, vice chairman of Silvergate Media of the UK, as a representative. Ed Weiser, Parliamentary Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport of the UK, presided over and witnessed the signing ceremony. This is the first time that CCTV has cooperated with a Western animation company to develop a preschool children's work. Silvergate Media will provide animation scripts and music creation, and CCTV will be solely responsible for the production part. The fifth season of the animation "Octonauts" will be broadcast on CCTV Children's Channel from December 28, 2020.
