Chen Jing is a quirky girl who majors in folk music and yangqin at the Affiliated Middle School of the Conservatory of Music. Because she likes piano, she decides to work as a piano transcriber for her senior brother Wang Wen from the same school. However, she is ignored by Wang Wen because of her lack of knowledge of Western music and her background in folk music, which also causes friction between the two major majors on campus. In order to prove her ability and to prove that folk music can be on a more powerful stage, Chen Jing teamed up with the girls in dormitory 502 to form a folk music band and play her own voice. Chen Jing's cousin Chen Hexu is a teacher at the Affiliated Middle School of the Conservatory of Music. When the two majors of students were alienated, she helped the students resolve their prejudices and misunderstandings, and silently encouraged and helped Chen Jing. Outside of school, Chen Hexu met the actor Feng Anyu by accident. Chen Hexu's true attitude towards himself gave Feng Anyu the courage to re-examine his life, and he lent a hand many times in the process of Chen Jing forming a band. With the help of many teachers including Chen Hexu, the students gradually grew up. Students of Western music and folk music broke their prejudices and lived in peace with each other. Chen Jing finally proved the charm of folk music, stepped onto a bigger music stage, and reaped a wonderful youth.
