Young Professor X, Charles (James McAvoy) and Magneto, Eric (Michael Fassbender), are a pair of good friends with similar aspirations. They first discovered their superpowers and worked in the CIA with several other mutants. The Nazi war profiteer Shaw (Kevin Bacon), who triggered Eric's superpowers, has been trying to provoke a nuclear war and find ways to provoke conflicts between the United States and the Soviet Union. Eric and Charles have been fighting with the mutants under Shaw, trying to stop Shaw's conspiracy. Shaw instigated the Soviet Union to trigger the Cuban Missile Crisis. After Charles and Eric learned the news, they started a duel with the mutants under Shaw in the Gulf. In the end, Shaw was eliminated by Charles and Eric. However, in the process, Eric was gradually influenced by Shaw's political views and had a rift with Charles. Through this battle in the Gulf, Eric and Charles eventually broke apart, and one side turned into Professor X who supported the peaceful coexistence of human beings and mutants.
