It's a perfect beach holiday, at least that's what one family, a young couple, a few tourists and an exile think as they arrive at the same secluded, idyllic cove with rock pools and sandy beaches surrounded by lush, vegetated cliffs. But there's a dark secret behind this utopia: first, there's a female body floating in the crystal-clear water. There's also a weird fact going on: All the children are aging rapidly. Soon, everyone discovers that they're getting older - every half hour - and there doesn't seem to be any way for them to leave the cove. Shyamalan says the film was inspired by the French graphic novel Sandcastle, created by Pierre Oscar Levy and artist Frederik Peeters. The story of Sandcastle is about 13 people who can't leave a mysterious, secluded beach that hides a dark secret involving time. However, the comics don't give the reason for this time mystery, but rather a prophetic story about survival and death. But OLD is not a direct adaptation of the graphic novel, so Shyamalan himself will tell the story and the brain hole.
