The story begins with an unknown writer (Jude Law). In order to concentrate on his writing, he came to a hotel called "Budapest", where the writer met the owner of the hotel, Mustafa (F. Murray Abraham). Mustafa invited the writer to dinner, during which he told the writer about the past and present of this stormy hotel. The former owner of the hotel was named Gustavo (Ralph Fiennes), and the young Mustafa (Tony Revolori) was just a small doorman following him at the time. Gustavo was upright, shrewd and capable. Under his management and organization, the Grand Budapest Hotel became the leading resort at the time. This move angered her son Dimitri (Adrien Brody). The doom of the Grand Budapest Hotel and Gustave began.
