The play tells the story of Zhang Nengliang (played by Chen Xiao) and Huang Xiaomeng (played by Zhang Yaqin), two new recruits born after 1995, who met veteran squad leader Niu Nuli (played by Wang Lei) and special forces soldier Yang Junyu (played by Wu Yue) after entering the army. The new recruits and veterans are constantly tempered and grow in the collision of ideas, and finally become tank soldiers of the new era. By recording the reform process of the 9th Brigade from the "9th Armored Brigade" to the "9th Synthetic Brigade" during the military reform period, the play reflects the dream of a strong army of a great power from the innocent hearts of ordinary soldiers, and expresses the patriotic feelings of contemporary youth.
