Overview The TV series "The Pleiades" is adapted from the novel of the same name by Japanese writer Jiro Asada, and is co-produced by China and Japan. The original novel is a very different novel. The author Jiro Asada wrote a Chinese historical novel, completely jumping out of the Japanese point of view. The book has been at the top of the best-selling book list in Japan in the past decade. The plot starts with the topic of the Pleiades (Pleiades, the star of destiny): Chun'er (played by Yu Shaoqun), a poor boy who makes a living by picking up frozen cow dung and horse dung on the street, meets the astrologer Granny Bai, who says that he was born from the Pleiades in the sky, and his fate is the same as that of Qianlong and Qin Shihuang, and in the future he will "take all the treasures of China into his pocket." Her predictions support the poor Chun'er to survive. When his brother died of hunger, he castrated himself and entered the palace. After a lot of struggle and hard work, he became a big celebrity around Cixi and succeeded Li Lianying. Granny Bai's words seemed to have really come true... However, he was inadvertently involved in the whirlpool of politics. "Under the Pleiades" is set in the late Qing Dynasty in China, with the Qing Palace as the stage, Empress Dowager Cixi as the foil, and the poor boy played by Yu Shaoqun as the main axis. It tells the story of a poor boy's growth and human transformation after experiencing social changes, vicissitudes of life, and various hardships. It shows in detail a fierce struggle in the court in the late Qing Dynasty. The young Emperor Guangxu, his favorite Concubine Zhen, and upright ministers advocated working hard, reforming the law, resisting foreign aggression, and revitalizing China. Concubine Zhen enthusiastically supported Guangxu's reform. Cixi demoted Concubine Zhen to a "noble lady" for violating the court's family rules, and erected a ban sign in front of her door saying "Concubines are not allowed to interfere in government affairs." Despite being in danger, Concubine Zhen still cared about the emperor's implementation of the new policy. Guangxu was deeply moved to see that she was concerned about the country and the people...
