The film tells the story of a master and his disciples on their journey to the west. The White Bone Demon (Gong Li) sets a trap to capture Tang Monk (Feng Shaofeng), but is discovered by Sun Wukong (Aaron Kwok) and repeatedly frustrated. Tang Monk misunderstands Sun Wukong for killing innocent people and expel him from the sect. The White Bone Demon takes advantage of the situation and kidnaps Tang Monk. Upon hearing the news, Wukong goes to rescue him and completely defeats the White Bone Demon. The master and his disciples put aside their past grudges and set off again.
