In August 1945, Japanese imperialism announced its surrender. After a brief victory and joy, the Chinese nation, which had suffered from war, was about to usher in an important moment that would determine the fate of the nation. With Chiang Kai-shek (played by Zhao Hengduo) tearing up the armistice agreement, the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party broke out. After two years of direct confrontation, the gap between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party gradually narrowed, and the war finally ushered in a decisive moment. In early 1948, important leaders of the Communist Party such as Mao Zedong (played by Gu Yue), Zhou Enlai, and Ren Bishi left the Shaanxi-Gansu base and met with the Central Working Committee led by Liu Shaoqi and Zhu De in Hebei. After careful consideration and discussion, the leaders ordered the 500,000 Northeast Field Army led by Lin Biao (played by Ma Shaoxin) to launch a comprehensive campaign to seize the Liaoshen Campaign in the Northeast. Chiang Kai-shek, who was undecided about whether to stay in the Northeast, was forced to fight, and the battle for the fate of the Chinese nation kicked off... This film is a commemorative work for the 70th anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party of China and the first part of the trilogy of the decisive battle.
