Thomas (Dylan O'Brien), Mino (Ki Hong Lee) and his team were taken to a mysterious shelter, which was managed by the two-faced Johnson (Aidan Gillen). Johnson provided them with a stable and comfortable environment and ordered the Gladiators to undergo a series of tests in the medical laboratory. Johnson promised Thomas that he would send them to a safer protected area to live with other young people who were immune to the "Flash Virus". Thomas, who noticed something was wrong, decided to lead his companions to escape from Johnson's control again, but what awaited them was a scorched earth that was more dangerous than the maze. The film is adapted from the second part of the dystopian science fiction trilogy of the same name written by James Dashner.
