In the vast African savannah, the peaceful and progressive Kingdom of Glory has ushered in a glorious moment. The majestic and brave lion king Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones) and Queen Sarabi (voiced by Alfre Woodard) finally welcomed the birth of their son, Simba (voiced by Donald Glover), the future king of the kingdom. While all the animals were sincerely kneeling down to worship Prince Simba, only Mufasa's younger brother Scar (voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor) was jealous. He had long coveted his brother's throne, and now he regards Simba as a thorn in his side. After some planning, Scar killed Mufasa and pushed the blame on his nephew, and then seized the throne into his own hands. The Kingdom of Glory has been shrouded in darkness since then, and can the exiled Simba return to this country where he spent his happy childhood?
