What makes you who you really are? The film will focus on Joey Garner (voice of Jamie Foxx). This high school music teacher gets the chance he's always dreamed of - playing at the best jazz club in New York. But a small mistake takes him from the streets of New York to a magical place called "the Great Before". There, souls are trained to acquire their personality traits and interests before going to Earth. Determined to return to Earth to live, Joey meets a precocious soul "Twenty-Two" (voice of Tina Fey), who can't find her interest in human life. As Joey continues to try to show Twenty-Two the wonders of life, he will also realize the answers to some of life's ultimate questions.
