David Shore, the creator of "House", and Daniel Dae Kim are developing the ABC medical drama "The Good Doctor". The "Good Doctor", adapted from a Korean drama, is written by David Shore and tells the story of a young surgeon Shaun Murphy with savant syndrome (having extraordinary abilities in some art or academics, 10% of autistic patients have this syndrome) who joins a famous hospital San Jose St. Bonaventure, which makes everyone wonder: Can a doctor who can't establish a relationship with ordinary people really treat patients? Freddie Highmore, who played the famous psychopathic killer Norman Bates in "Bates Motel", joins to play the protagonist Shaun Murphy with autism. Although he is not good at socializing, he has charming honesty and straightforwardness; he has a troubled childhood with savant syndrome and becomes a genius doctor. Nicholas Gonzalez plays Dr. Neil Melendez, the boss of the surgical resident. Antonia Thomas plays Claire Browne, a strong-willed, caring and smart doctor who forms a special connection with Shaun when she faces her own challenges. Chuku Modu plays Dr. Jared Unger, a resident doctor at the hospital. Hill Harper, the star of "CSI: NY", will play Dr. Horace Andrews, the head of surgery at the hospital, and Irene Keng plays Dr. Elle McLean, a resident doctor. Richard Schiff plays Dr. Ira Glassman, the dean of San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. He is a good man at heart, but not an old man. He started to guide Shaun when he was 16 years old. He was like a son to Shaun, so when he proposed to recruit Shaun, it was actually more because of the private relationship than in public. Beau Garrett plays Jessica Preston, one of the hospital directors, a friend of Ira Glassman, and Jessica stands on Ira's side in recruiting Shaun.
