"Foyle's War" (also known as "Foyle's War") is a historical detective drama set during World War II and the early Cold War, which was broadcast on the British Independent Television from 2002 to 2015. The show is not only about the confusing cases and fascinating plots, but also about the true, objective, unique and in-depth restoration of the history of World War II from a little-known perspective. Screenwriter and producer Anthony Horowitz is a famous British mystery writer who has participated in the adaptation of many Poirot series. The character and case settings are deeply rooted in the essence of Agatha Christie. He has read a lot of books on the history of World War II to collect creative materials, and cleverly combined the real historical events of World War II to show the turmoil of human nature under the haze of war from the perspective of civilians. This turmoil also resonates in today's rapidly developing and changing society, and it is easy for viewers to have emotional resonance; the overall tone of this drama is different from the traditional war dramas that are overcast (although S1 is a bit heavy, it has been intentionally adjusted since S2). The characters are not bitter and vengeful, but are as relaxed and comedic as the early Poirot. The protagonists have rich interactions, the dialogues are humorous, and the plot is profound; the historical perspective is restored objectively and dialectically, and the government is not blindly praised. Instead, the dark side of the British government and the blurred boundaries between good and evil are reflected through the cases, which is thought-provoking. The post-war season repeatedly expresses thoughts and doubts about the nature of victory in war, and makes in-depth portrayals of the spiritual and mental trauma caused by war to mankind. It not only embodies humanistic care, but also has a reflective spirit. It is a rare film and television masterpiece.
