During this process, Cheng Fengtai, a wealthy new businessman who had never seen Peking opera, was deeply moved after watching his performance by chance. He wanted to make friends with him and became obsessed with Peking opera under his influence. With the help of Cheng Fengtai, Shang Xirui overcame many obstacles, rebuilt Shuiyun Tower in Peking, and trained a group of outstanding Peking opera talents, which had a far-reaching influence. In 1937, the Japanese army occupied Peking. Faced with their heinous acts of burning, killing and looting, people of insight who could not bear to see the beautiful mountains and rivers and the quintessence of Chinese art destroyed began to rise up in resistance. Shang Xirui and Cheng Fengtai were also influenced by the passion of the people to defend their country. They temporarily put aside their own small life goals, joined the revolutionary team to defend their country, and contributed their own efforts to the protection and inheritance of art.
