The film tells the story of Zhu Zhixin (played by Wu Qianyu), who has a pair of bright eyes but has a pair of blind parents: Gan Xiaohong (played by Hui Yinghong) and Zhu Guoqiang (played by Wu Dairong). She is well-behaved and sensible, and has been the "eyes" of her parents since she was a child, describing the shapes and colors of the world for her parents. As the girl enters puberty, she loves painting and is gifted, and she longs to study art abroad. The conflict of concepts and frequent quarrels bring the family atmosphere to a freezing point.
