Introduction

Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman), who had just finished his prison sentence, successfully ran for the presidency of South Africa. He led people to break the apartheid system, and took the lead in hiring white guards to establish communication between people of different skin colors in all aspects. As the host of the 1995 Rugby World Cup, South Africa returned to the international sports family. However, South Africa's English rugby team, the springbok team, whose players are all white, is regarded by many black people as a synonym for racial discrimination. In order to break the barriers, Mandela has a long-term vision and supports the exchange and competition between the springbok team and visiting foreign teams. He met with the captain of the springbok team, Piena (Matt Damon), and the two had a heart-to-heart talk. The latter led the white players to visit all parts of South Africa, popularizing rugby to ordinary people, making this sport a bond between black and white... This film is adapted from John Carlin's work "Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made a Nation".
