Introduction

Anton comes to the small town of La Ciotat in southern France to participate in a summer screenwriting workshop. With the help of the famous writer Olivia, they will write a crime suspense novel. In the process, everyone needs to recall and feel the industrial history of the town. In this cross-racial team, Anton, who is smart and outspoken, often makes controversial remarks and conflicts with other students. He is out of tune with everyone, and Olivia has to kick him out of the workshop. Olivia is both alert and fascinated by Anton's violent tendencies. How should she face this collective creation on the verge of collapse, and how should she face herself? In the suspenseful atmosphere of the film, the debates and the gradually heated conflicts reflect the views of contemporary French young people on this complex society and the difficulties they face. The film was shortlisted for the Un Certain Regard section of the 70th Cannes Film Festival. Laurent Gonte once again collaborated with Robin Campillo, the director of "120 BPM", to write the screenplay. He recruited non-professional actors with different backgrounds at the filming location, injected each actor's own personality into the role, and captured their performances realistically with multiple cameras.
