North America was destroyed after a war. On the ruins of the original United States, people built a new home, but the new regime stipulated that the 12 regions under its jurisdiction must pay tribute to young men and women every year to participate in a live TV show "Hunger Games". The rules of the show are simple - kill or be killed. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence)'s sister was unfortunately selected on the "Selection Day" of District 12. In order to protect her sister, Katniss volunteered to take her place. She had to separate from her sweetheart Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) and enter the game with Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), who was also selected as the tribute representative of District 12. Although Katniss has been hunting since she was a child and has extraordinary archery skills, she can cope with the many obstacles in the show with ease, but she has to deal with the cruel and strong contestants from other districts in the competition. If she wants to become the final winner, she must become an inhuman killing machine, which is a great test for her. The Hunger Games is the first part of the eponymous youth science fiction trilogy by American writer Suzanne Collins (the other two parts are named Catching Fire and Mockingjay).
