The local people believed that the Dragon King in the Dragon Locking Well was angry and that they had to throw boys and girls into the Dragon Locking Well to sacrifice to the dragon in order to enjoy peace. The evil custom of sacrifice has been going on for a long time. Every time there is a natural disaster, sacrifices are performed. I don’t know how many innocent children are buried at the bottom of the well. The newly-appointed Jinshi Zhuang Yan just became the chief clerk of Longya County. Upon hearing about this, he insisted on saving the boys and girls, but he was accidentally involved in a bizarre murder case and was thrown into prison. Xiao Wan, the assistant of the Longya County coroner, traveled thousands of miles to ask the aging Song Ci (played by Ouyang Zhenhua) to find out the truth in order to save her sweetheart.
