The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Shigematsu Kiyoshi, a Naoki Prize-winning writer, and directed by Yukiko Mishima, the director of Glass Reed. The story tells the story of a divorced man named Shin (played by Tadanobu Asano) with a child, and his second wife Nanae (played by Reina Tanaka) and her two daughters who lived an ordinary and happy life. When Nanae became pregnant, Nanae's eldest daughter revealed that she wanted to see her biological father Sawada (played by Kankuro Miyato), but it was this biological father who had abused Nanae and led to their divorce. Nanae and Shin were extremely opposed, and the eldest daughter tried her best to resist, which made Shin frustrated and even felt negative about the fetus in Nanae's belly.
