In 1944, at the end of World War II, Toeda was a teacher at a national school in the Amami Islands. There were naval special attack boats stationed on the island, and Saku was a recently transferred lieutenant. After several meetings, the lieutenant was deeply attracted to Toeda, and at the same time, the lieutenant who was diligently learning to sing the island song also made Toeda intoxicated. After several exchanges, the two who had a good impression of each other finally fell in love. However, Toeda's deep love for the lieutenant tortured her, and the endless war made her lover always in a state of being summoned to go to war... This film is adapted from "The End of the Island" and "Life and Death by the Sea" written by novelist Toshio Shimao and his wife Miho Shimao.
