The story takes place in a quiet town. Dester (Joseph Mazzello) and Eric (Brad Renfro) are a pair of peers living next to each other. A medical accident broke Dester's peaceful life. Due to the contamination of medical equipment, Dester was infected with terrible AIDS during blood transfusion. Although the misfortune fell from the sky and it was not anyone's fault, the Dester family was still isolated and excluded by the residents. In everyone's eyes, Eric is a headache child. He seems to have a bad relationship with everyone because of his withdrawn personality. One day, Eric and Dester met across a bamboo fence. The two people with similar temperaments soon became friends. Eric tried every means to cure Dester's disease. After many treatments failed, Eric resolutely took Dester on a medical journey.
