ITV's six-episode new series "The Durrells" is adapted from Gerald Durrell's memoir trilogy. The story takes place in the 1930s (1935). Louisa Durrell (Keeley Hawes) is penniless, but she needs to support four children (some of whom are already adults). Her husband died a few years ago, and everything has gone off track: the savings left by her husband have been spent, the family is facing serious financial pressure, and the children are all unsuccessful. In order to start a new life, she decided to move her family to Corfu, an island off the northwest coast of Greece, but the family still faces many challenges... because a woman in that era really didn't have many means to support a family. At the same time, not all family members agree with her decision, and a family civil war breaks out. To make matters worse, they found that Corfu didn't even have electricity at the time. Compared with a metropolis like London, it is simply a "primitive society". But the cost of living here is very low, and the scenery is as beautiful as heaven. If you want to rebuild this family, there is no better place than here.
