The film tells the story of a director who overcame various difficulties to shoot a blockbuster about the Romanian War of Independence. It is worth mentioning that this film is the first film epic shot in Romania in 1912 - "War of Independence". Although "The Rest Is Silence" is adapted from a true story, the male protagonist is a fictional film director. In order to make a movie, he has to raise funds on the one hand, and on the other hand, he has to beware of a French film company stealing his ideas. After the release of the film, it received rave reviews and won nine awards at the 2009 Romanian GOPO Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Actress. It is hailed as one of the most outstanding films in Romania in the past 20 years.
